Terms & Conditions

1.   Online Booking

The booking must be done only and exclusively using the information details of the person, who will provide the required documentation (to the car rental service provider), sign the car hire agreement with the car rental service provider and will carry with the responsibility of the rental.

For booking process purpose we would need Your (The Renter’s) following personal data; full name as on personal identity card or passport, date of birth, telephone number, e-mail address, country of residence.

At the end of booking process, a confirmation email containing all the booking details will be sent to the email address You (The Renter) provided. We recommend You (The Renter) print a copy of the confirmation and present it at vehicle pick up.

1.1. Changing the booking

You (The Renter) can change your booking up to 24 hours before the rental starts. Any payment already made for the booking is nonrefundable.

1.2. Cancellation

A booking can be canceled free of charge up to 48 hours before the start of the rental. If the booking is cancelled in the 48 hours before the rental start, a cancellation charge equal to 1 day of rent will be applied. Cancellations can be made by writing to our email address info@car2go.al.

1.3. Prepaid (Secured) booking

If You (The Renter) choose to complete the booking and pay for it online, the selected will available to you at Car2Go Station throughout the pick-up date. Attention though, out of hours fees may still apply. Furthermore if You (The Renter) prepay your online booking, we will deliver the car at the location of your choice in the area between Tirana City and Tirana Airport (TIA) with no extra charge. You (The Renter) can cancel the booking up to 24 hours before the rental start. In this case, the paid amount will refunded less 1 day of rent cancellation fee. Cancellations can be made by writing to our email address info@car2go.al.

2.   Driver’s/Renter’s Requirements

2.1. Age

Driver / Renter must be 21 years or older (max 70 years) when picking up the vehicle.  For some type of vehicles an older age minimum may be required.

2.2. Driver’s License

Driver / Renter must possess and present its valid driver license held for at least 2 years when picking up the vehicle. If the driver’s license is not in Roman alphabet, an International Driver Permit (IDP) / International Driver License (IDL) is required.

2.3. Personal Identity Document

A valid personal identity document (personal identity card or passport) is required when picking up the car. An additional driver’s fee may apply and will be payable at the Car2Go station, except when the additional driver’s fee is included in the rate.

3.   Package Inclusions

Your rental package includes;

  • Collision Damage Waiver (CDW)
  • Third Party Liability coverage (TPL) as required by Albanian Law
  • Theft Protection
  • Free of charge breakdown Assistance
  • VAT

4.   Package Exclusions

Your rental package does NOT include

  • Fuel
  • Fines, Toll & Parking fees
  • Administration Fees for settling fines on Your (The Renter’s) behalf (10 Euro)
  • Administration Fee for damages
  • Loss of documents, keys or plates
  • Out of Working Hours Fee (25 euro)
  • Damage to tires, tire rims, flat tires, vehicle undercarriage, clutch and vehicle interior.

5.   Vehicle Pick-Up / Return

5.1. Vehicle, vehicle model availability

The make and model of the car displayed are only guaranteed if it is clearly stated so in the booking confirmation. Generally, the particular car displayed on the booking confirmation is only for reference and Car2Go reserves the right to substitute it with an alternative, similar or upgraded car. If the vehicle on your booking confirmation becomes unavailable at the time of booking due to a breakdown or an accident, Car2Go will provide you with a similar or upgraded alternative vehicle within one hour from arrival.

5.2. Service Refusal

Car2Go reserves the right to refuse the car to any Renter who fails to arrive on time, fails to provide all the necessary documentation and / or information, fails to provide sufficient funds for the rental amount and the security deposit. In such cases, unless the rental has been canceled in advance, the Renter will not be entitled to any refund.

5.3. Inspections

At vehicle pick –up (Delivery) You (The Renter) and a Car2Go representative responsible for the delivery, both will inspect the vehicle and any problems will be noted on the Vehicle Inspection Report (VIR), part of the rental agreement which will be signed by both parties, You (The Renter) and Car2Go representative.

We strongly recommend you participate actively in these inspections as You (The Renter) will bear the cost of eventual vehicle damages reported.

The same process will be repeated when the vehicle will be returned to the station (Collection) at the end of the rental period. It is mandatory to perform this operation, agree, sign and keep a copy of the Vehicle Inspection Report for both, You (the Renter) and Car2Go at the vehicle return for the rental agreement to be considered completed. Out of Service Hours Pick Ups & Drop Offs

All pick-ups and drop-offs outside car rental agency’s opening hours are considered an Out-of-Hours Service. An Out-of-Hours Service is only available on request and will be additionally charged with an Out of Working Hours Fee (25 Euro).

5.4. Late Pick-ups / Early Drop-offs

You (The Renter) will not be entitled to a refund of unused days if the rental vehicle is returned earlier than stated on the voucher/rental agreement.

A late return penalty fee may apply if you return the vehicle later than agreed in your Rental Document.

5.5. One Way Delivery

One way domestic delivery is possible on request and subject to availability. It is free of charge for a distance of 5km from the pick up location. For distances bigger than 5 Km the delivery is subject to extra charges equal to 2 Euro/km.

6.   Security Deposit

A security deposit amount in the form of a pre-authorized amount in a credit card (preferred) or Cash is left at the station on vehicle pick up. The deposit will be used to cover the excess amount of the vehicle in case of damages (under CDW or LDW, see below) but Your (The Renter’s) liability under the rental agreement (Contract), is NOT limited to this amount (see 9 below). This amount will be returned/refunded to you in full at the end of the rental, if the car and extras provided are returned in the same state as rented and in accordance with the rental policy. 7.   Vehicle General Conditions

You (The Renter) are responsible for the vehicle entrusted to you from the pick up until the returning it at Car2Go station. You (The Renter) must return the vehicle in the same condition as it was in when you received it including all accessories, car wash and fuel level at the time of the delivery. Car2Go will charge you a special cleaning fee for any excessive staining / soiling and / or both, internal and external damage (including strong smells).

8.   Fuel Policy

Car2Go will provide the vehicle with fuel and You (The Renter) must return it at the same level (Same to Same).

9.   Renter’s liability throughout the duration of Rental Agreement

Within the limits set by Albanian Law, You (The Renter) release Car2Go from any liability related to the vehicle circulation and any eventual damage or loss caused by the Renter or by third parties, during the rental period.

Your (The Renter’s) liability, as limited by CDW / LDW (see below), in case of damage or theft of the rented vehicle, consists in the coverage of the costs not covered by insurances (which can go all the way up to 20% of the value of the vehicle), for visible and invisible damages, towing, the loss of the value of the vehicle and financial losses caused by the inability to use the vehicle.

You (The Renter) assume all legal (civil or penal) responsibility for any violations, damages, or losses during the rental period that may result from acts or omissions committed by You (The Renter) or by others.

10.       Insurance / Vehicle Protection

All vehicles are equipped with a waiver covering all body damages of vehicle (CDW, driver excluded), third party liabilities insurance (TPL) and /or theft protection.

  • Collision Damages Waiver (CDW) which limits (caps) the driver’s responsibility for damages to the body of the vehicle to a certain max amount (excess). This amounts depends on the vehicle.
  • Third Party Liability (TPL) provides cover for personal injuries and material damages of third parties involved in an accident.
  • Theft Protection (TP), which limits (caps) the driver’s responsibility to a max of 2,000 euro in case of vehicle theft.

Please be informed that any kind of insurance or waiver will be void, if You (The Renter), do not take appropriate measures for the safety of the vehicle, the car parts or accessories or do not take into account the limitations in the use of the vehicle, abusing or mismanaged it. Please refer to the section Damages & Losses (below) to understand more in details what is NOT covered by the car insurance / waiver.

11.       Damages & Losses

Certain damages and/or losses are NOT covered by the protection of the car insurance (10). As such, You (The Renter) will be fully responsible and might need to compensate Car2Go in case these damages and/or losses occur. Such damages and/or losses include but are not limited to;

  • Damages as a result of using the vehicle outside asphalted roads (off-road).
  • Damage on the undercarriage of the vehicle, roof top or as a result of colliding with bridges, tunnels, etc.
  • Damages to the vehicle as a result of using the wrong type/bad quality fuel.
  • Damages of the tires beyond their normal consumption.
  • Damages caused by the use of alcohol or drugs.
  • Damages to the interior of the vehicle, keys, tires, hubcaps, rims, undercarriage and clutch.
  • Dead battery as a result of turning off the car and leaving its lights on.
  • Loss of keys, plates or car documents.
  • Any damage occurred as consequence of transporting hazardous goods.
  • Any damage occurred as consequence of NOT handling/operating the car in accordance with its usage manual and road restrictions.
  • Bad smell resulting from smoking in the car

All car are equipped with an on-board computer which checks the status/health of the car’s most important components. In case of any problem or if any warning lights show on the dashboard, You (The Renter) must stop the vehicle as soon as possible and contact Car2Go.

12.       Accidents

In case of accident or theft;

  • Do not leave the accident site
  • Check yourself and the other passengers for injuries. If you are injured, do not move and wait for help
  • If you can, help the other persons involved in the accident
  • Call immediately the police at 129 or 112 to report the event. Get the Police (written) Report (MANDATORY) on the event
  • Contact Car2Go to notify the event and ask for help and/or instructions

Please remember, that in order to benefit from the protection of the car insurance, You (The Renter) absolutely need to have the Police Report (MANDATORY Document) on the event.

Failure to comply with the correct procedure may result in your insurance coverage becoming invalid and / or Car2Go terminating the rental.

13.       Fines & Penalties

By signing the Rental Agreement (Contract), You (The Renter) acknowledge that not using the vehicle in accordance with its Terms and Conditions or traffic rules and regulation may lead to additional costs.  You (The Renter) assume responsibility and authorize the payments as follows;

  • Full value of the fines imposed by the relevant authorities, and other concerning expenses, or three times the value for unreported fines.
  • 1/3 of the daily rental rate for each hour late, one full day for more than 4 hours late, and twice the daily rental rate for each day of delay.
  • 50 Euros for every missing liter of fuel and the full value of a deposit if the supply with proper fuel cannot be verified by the refuel receipt.
  • 0,5 euro for each kilometer driven over the allowed limit.
  • 200 Euros for allowing smoking in the vehicle.
  • 20 Euro if the vehicle is returned not properly cleaned and cannot be normally inspected for eventual damages.
  • 500 Euros for having allowed the operation of the vehicle by unauthorized drivers in writing by Car2Go, or with expired authorization.
  • 1000 Euros having allowed traveling outside Albania without Car2Go written authorization.
  • 500 Euros if the Renter does not hand over the vehicle personally at Car2Go station.
  • 500 Euros if the vehicle is driven on inappropriate roads not complying with the vehicle specifications and the full value of visible and invisible damages and other which may occur subsequently, within 15 days, following this misuse.
  • Twice the value of repairs and changed or replaced parts, if the Renter performs these operations without the authorization of Car2Go.
  • 1% of the total rental rate, as interest rate, for each day payment’s delay of compensations or different fines.

14.       Other

Car2Go has the right to terminate the rental if these Terms and Conditions are breached. Car2Go has the right to terminate the rental agreement at any time without any notice, if suspects that the client uses the car for malicious/unlawful purposes or risks to damage the car.
